Riau Brimob Officer Dies After Three Weeks Fighting Forest Fires

Pekanbaru. Riau Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officer Second Inspector Donald Junus Halomoan (49) died after a three-week mission battling forest and land fires in Rokan Hilir, authorities confirmed Wednesday (6/8/2025).

“He was a resilient and dedicated police officer. For the past three weeks, he was on the front line with the joint team,” said Riau Brimob Commander Senior Superintendent Ketut Gede Adi Wibawa, as quoted by antaranews.com

Serving at Brimob Battalion B, Inspector Donald was part of a police operation in Simpang Kanan. On Monday, he led a post-fire consolidation briefing before returning to rest. The next morning, he was found unresponsive and declared dead at 8 am by medical staff.

Inspector Donald leaves behind a wife and two children. His funeral will be held with full police honors.
